Our Approach

BECAUSE ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL

Personalized Paths for Success Since 2010

BECAUSE ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL

In 2010, we started BCA in the basement of St. Andrews Church, fueled by a simple but powerful belief: every individual on the autism spectrum deserves therapeutic instruction tailored to their unique needs. As our clients experienced the difference our personalized, 1:1 approach made, word began to spread, and the demand for our services grew. Today, we are Kentucky’s leading nonprofit autism service provider. We proudly serve three distinct age groups in facilities thoughtfully designed to best support their personalized goals.

While each client’s plan is customized, our programs for each age group are rooted in the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. Our year-round program tailors therapeutic instruction to each client’s unique needs while focusing on success and progress in key areas such as appropriate social behavior, communication, and life skills. To ensure that each client has a program that works for them, they are supported by a dedicated treatment team, including a behavior analyst, speech therapist, and registered behavior technician.

AGES 2-12

At our Kosair for Kids East Campus, we provide 1:1 therapeutic instruction and small group sessions, focusing on communication, social skills, emotional regulation, and independence. Each personalized program is based upon a combination of Applied Behavioral Analysis and Speech Therapy to help clients acquire an effective system of communication. When necessary, we provide augmentative communication support to improve our client’s ability to express themselves and understand others.

AGES 12-17

At our Kosair for Kids Burnett Campus, life skills training is a core component of our programming. Located on the Kosair for Kids main campus on East Burnett Avenue, this teen-focused environment helps adolescents and young adults with autism build independence, social skills, and confidence through individualized instruction and meaningful daily activities.

The campus includes access to outdoor green space that supports recreation, physical activity, and social engagement. In partnership with Kosair for Kids and CASA of the River Region, Bluegrass Center for Autism is also fundraising to enhance the campus playground and outdoor activity areas. Planned improvements will create an inclusive space designed for teens, featuring opportunities for motor skill development, physical wellness, and age-appropriate recreation.

Through our Prevocational Training Program, we empower young adults to build essential skills and continue their development through community partnerships and opportunities for independent skill-building. At our Fern Creek Campus, this program provides personalized and small-group instruction focused on communication, daily living, and foundational job skills. Through partnerships with nonprofits and organizations that promote health, nutrition, and conservation, our clients gain hands-on experience that fosters confidence and a sense of purpose. While this program focuses on skill building and personal development rather than direct job placement, our ultimate goal is to equip clients with the tools they need to achieve greater independence and success in their future endeavors.

COMMUNITY PROGRAM

In an effort to support clients on the priority list, our team of dedicated Board Certified Behavior Analysts have designed The Community Program. Our newest program serves children and young adults of all ages and their families in their own homes and communities. This program can also be beneficial for clients that do not require intensive clinic-based services.

This program not only benefits the clients and families we serve, but also creates opportunities for community partnerships and collaborations. By working together, we can create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all clients, regardless of their unique needs.
